My name is Jack Kelleher and I have been fortunate to live on Hilton Head Island for the last six years. It was always a bucket list item to spend five healthy years living at a beach after my professional career. I am proud to report I can check that item off my bucket list! Beyond enjoying Island life, I spend time building and benchmarking financial metrics of government entities my family tax dollars fund, including my HOA. Weird hobby, absolutely. Why? I spent my career leading business units and companies, the last 2 decades for Berkshire Hathaway Energy. Key to my professional success was recognizing I would never be the sharpest tool in the shed, so I surrounded myself with those that were. What I brought to the table was a knack to impact business performance by understanding and acting upon company financial performance metrics. It is my view that just as business must operate efficiently and get a little bit better every day, so should the government we fund. It is from my analysis of Beaufort County financial statements, and the 15 largest populated Counties in South Carolina, that I built this information package on why Lowcountry taxpayers should vote no on the Beaufort County 2026 referendum.
